On August 19, the on-site national finals of the Fifth National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition concluded at Beijing Institute of Technology. The teacher team led by Chen Guangyuan from the College of Oceanography at Shandong University of Science and Technology won the national first prize in the New Engineering Intermediate and Below Group, while the team led by Zhou Tong from the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture secured the national third prize in the Ideological and Political Education for Senior Title Group.
The National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition is guided by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education and organized by the China Association of Higher Education. The fifth edition of the competition featured 32 competition zones, covering all undergraduate universities and academic disciplines. For the first time, seven tracks were introduced simultaneously: New Engineering, New Medicine, New Agriculture, New Liberal Arts, Foundational Courses, Ideological and Political Education, and Integration of Industry and Education. A total of 2,253 teachers (including team members) from 588 courses advanced to the national competition. The competition awarded 88 first prizes, 205 second prizes, and 295 third prizes to teachers (or teams).
Since the launch of the competition, the university has organized its own internal competitions in accordance with the requirements and standards of the provincial and national competitions, with 12 teachers (or teams) winning awards at the provincial level. To prepare for the national on-site competition, the university leveraged the Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Enhancing Teachers’ Teaching Competition Capabilities. Experts were invited to provide intensive training and simulate the finals for the participating teachers, offering comprehensive guidance and support throughout the preparation process.
