On behalf of the faculty and students of Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), I would like to express my appreciation to people from all walks of life and overseas friends who have shown interest in and rendered support to SDUST’s development, my cordial greetings to our alumni, and warm welcome to domestic and overseas counterparts, and to future international students.

SDUST was founded in 1951 and has developed into a key university of Shandong Province which offers multidisciplinary education in engineering, sciences, management, humanities, law, economics and education with a focus on the integration of sciences and engineering. Up to now, more than 220,000 students have graduated from the University, who have made outstanding achievements in various fields and contributed to China's development and prosperity. Many of them become leaders in academia, politics and businesses.

Entering the new millennium, SDUST has been on the track of fast development as a result of higher education reform and economic take-off in China. Apart from its former campuses in Jinan and Tai’an respectively, SDUST has built up its main campus with a total area of 3 square kilometers in the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong’s cultural and economic hub and one of the world’s most liveable cities, which facilitates study and research.

SDUST is proud of its past and confident of the future. In face of the new challenges, the University will, on the principle of people first, attach greater importance to faculty growth, strengthen discipline construction to improve education quality and to make SDUST more competitive in globalization.
