Recently, the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Department announced the list of internationally recognized science and technology cooperation bases in Shandong Province for 2024. The "Shandong Provincial International Joint Laboratory for Green Mining Development and Environmental Protection" led by the College of Energy and Mining Engineering of Shandong University of Science and Technology has been officially approved, marking a new breakthrough for the university in establishing provincial and ministerial-level international science and technology cooperation bases.

The Shandong Provincial International Joint Laboratory for Green Mining Development and Environmental Protection closely aligns with the strategic needs of ecological civilization construction, ecological protection, and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin. It actively organizes and conducts international scientific and technological cooperation research and major scientific and technological innovation activities in areas such as early warning and comprehensive treatment of cavity disasters, surface subsidence and environmental remediation in mining areas, and resource utilization of mine solid waste. By fully incorporating overseas intellectual resources, the laboratory has made solid progress in base construction in terms of platform development, scientific research, talent cultivation, and exchanges. It has become a comprehensive international science and technology cooperation base with demonstrative and leading roles in scientific research, international academic exchanges, and talent cultivation in the field of green mining development and environmental protection of mineral resources.
