On July 13th, the 23rd National University Student Robot Contest ROBOCON concluded at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (Jiangyin Campus). Shandong University of Science and Technology won a total of 10 national awards in the competition. The participating teams are from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of SDUST.
The National University Student Robot Contest ROBOCON is a national A-level competition that has been held for 23 years, attracting over 30,000 university students from more than 100 renowned universities. It has become one of the most technically challenging and influential robot competitions for university students in China, playing a positive role in cultivating students' comprehensive abilities such as complex engineering cognition, systematic thinking, and teamwork. This year's competition featured over 2,000 university students from 133 teams representing 92 universities, including Shandong University, Northeastern University, Wuhan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
Since the announcement of this year's competition, participating teams from SDUST have devoted themselves to preparations, actively engaging in discussions on topics, designing schemes, conceptualizing machinery, developing visual recognition systems, and iterating technologies. By comprehensively applying knowledge and techniques in mechanical, electronic, control, and computer engineering, they successfully developed autonomous four-legged bionic robots and other innovations after about ten months of effort. Their excellent performances in the competition resulted in a double breakthrough in both the quality and quantity of awards won.
