Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the filing and approval of undergraduate majors of higher education institutions for 2023, and Shandong University of Science and Technology's Renewable Energy Science and Engineering major in the College of Energy Storage Technology and Supply Chain Management major in the College of Economics and Management have been approved for filing.

The Renewable Energy Science and Engineering major is a much-needed discipline for the national energy strategy and renewable energy industry, aiming to cultivate applied and innovative talents capable of engaging in engineering design and technological development in professional fields such as hydrogen energy, wind energy, biomass energy, geothermal energy, and new energy development. In 2023, this major was approved as an industry-education integration demonstration major by Qingdao universities.

The Supply Chain Management major conforms to the new trend of new engineering and new liberal arts construction in China, catering to the strategic needs of high-quality development in the national industrial and supply chains. With smart and low-carbon supply chain management as its specialty, it cultivates outstanding supply chain management talents with strategic thinking and a systematic grasp of supply chain management expertise.

In recent years, SDUST has continuously promoted adjustments to its discipline structure and improved its dynamic adjustment mechanism for majors. Since 2019, the university has added 20 majors, discontinued enrollment in 33 majors, and abolished 10 majors, continuously optimizing its discipline structure. In the next step, the university will implement the discipline optimization and adjustment plan.
