From June 15 to 22, Yuan Junping, Secretary of Party Committee of SDUST, led a delegation to visit the Kuzbass National University of Technology of Russia, the Coal and Coalification Research Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, the Finnish Geo-spatial Research Institute (FGI) of Finland, as well as the University ofHelsinki.
At the Kuzbass National University of Technology, Yuan and his delegation were warmly received by President Taylakov, Prof. Khoreshok, Dean of the College of Mining, Prof. Cherkasova, Dean of College of Chemical Engineering, and so on. Looking back at the progress made in faculty and student exchanges, as well as research cooperation, the two sides expressed willingness to further widen the scope of cooperation, trying to have more communication and exchanges in programs of chemical engineering, mapping and surveying, mining technology, and joint organization of international conferences, etc. After the meeting, the SDUST delegation paid a visit to the museum, laboratories and the Data Center of the university. Later on, Yuan was interviewed by the local TV station. Minutes of the meeting were signed at the end of the visit.
During their visit in Russia, the SDUST delegation had a meeting with senior officials of the Coal and Coalification Research Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences. Collaboration in areas of clean carbon technology was touched upon in the meeting. Accompanied by Director Vladimir Klishin, the SDUST paid a visit to the research achievement exhibition and laboratories.
Arriving in Finland, the SDUST delegation first visited FGI, where an in-depth discussion over research collaboration and student and faculty exchanges was held between the two sides.
The visit to higher education institutes of Finland and Russia helps to widen the scope of international exchanges of SDUST while paving a way for future communication and cooperation between SDUST and institutes abroad.
