SDUST Delegation Visited Estonian and Finnish Higher Education Institutions

From October 12 to 19, Prof. Liu Xinmin, Vice President of SDUST, led a delegation to visit the Tallinn University of Technology of Estonia, the Aalto University and the Finnish Geo-spatial Research Institute (FGI) of Finland.

On October 12, Prof.Liu and his delegation of four people arrived in the Talllin University of Technology and were warmly welcomed by Vice President Prof.Tea Varrak and the relevant senior staffs of Tallin.
The two sides discussed about and reached consensus on joint education of undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty exchange visits for giving lectures and research cooperation in Mining programs.

During the time in Tallinn, the SDUST delegation paid a visit to the Department of Mining and had a detailed discussion with the faculty and staff about students cultivation and research cooperation. Accompanied by  Mr.Veiko Karu, Dean of the Department of Mining,the SDUST delegation visited the Museum of Mining  Industry, laboratories, library and innovation center that deeply impressed the SDUST delegates.

On October 15, the SDUST delegation arrived in Aalto University of Finland and visited its 3D lab and  underground channel for student internship. The SDUST delegates discussed about research cooperation with Prof. Mikael Rinne, an expert in Rock Mechanics from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
On October 16, the SDUST delegation visited the Finnish Geo-spatial Research Institute (FGI) of Finland. A meeting between the two sides was held in friendly atmosphere and joint education of postgraduate programs was discussed in detail. An agreement on joint education of master’s degree students was signed at the end of the meeting. Prof. Liu Xinmin awarded the Honorary Professor Certificate to Prof. Yuwei Chen and Prof. Juha Hyppa who will supervise the jointly educated students.

The visits to higher education institutions in Finland and Estonia witnessed cooperation agreements signed, facilitated the implementation of agreements, enlarged the scope of cooperation, as well as improved friendship between the two sides.
