On October 19, the launch ceremony of Swinburne College of Shandong University of Science and Technology was held in Jinan campus. Yao Qingguo, President of Shandong University of science and technology, Liu Xintang, general inspector of Shandong Provincial Department of Education, and Li Xinqing, President of Australian Education Management Group attended the ceremony and delivered speeches; Brett Steven, Commissioner for China of Victoria, Australia, and Pascale Quester, Pro Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches online. The ceremony was presided over by Sun Heting, Vice President of Shandong University of Science and Technology and director of the Management Committee of Jinan campus.

Before the launch ceremony, the first meeting of the joint management committee (JMC) of Swinburne College was held.

Yao Qingguo said that Shandong University of Science and Technology and Swinburne University of Technology have a deep foundation for cooperation and have carried out long-term cooperation in student exchanges, mutual visits of teachers and joint scientific research. Swinburne College is an important achievement for the two universities to achieve strong alliance, complement each other's advantages, continue historical friendship and deepen practical cooperation. In his speech, he stressed that Swinburne College is the first China-foreign joint educational institution approved by MOE, marking a new level of internationalization. The university will coordinate the resources of all parties, make greater efforts to introduce, absorb and integrate high-quality educational resources, and build Swinburne College into a higher education reform and high-quality international talent training base, a high-level scientific and technological innovation base for international cooperation, and a social service base for regional development.
